Hedging — quick answers

What is hedging?

Betting the opposite outcome of a bet you hold, to guarantee profit or cap a loss whichever way it lands. It's most common on live bets and long-shot futures that have come good.

How do I size the hedge?

Hedge stake = (original stake × original decimal odds) ÷ hedge decimal odds. That equalises the payout on both sides, so your profit is the same whichever result comes in.

Should I always hedge?

No. Hedging trades upside for certainty — you give up the bigger win to remove the risk. Use it when locking a profit (or capping a loss) matters more than chasing the full payout.
