Why are both sides -110?

Both sides are -110 because the bookie takes a cut; with no cut, an even game would pay +100 on each side.

Example: Bet $110 on each team. One wins, so you get $210 back for the $220 you put in. The bookie keeps $10.

That cut is how bookies make money. It is often called the vig or the juice.

It is small on one bet, but it is taken on every bet, so it adds up.

As of 5 October, the bookies keep about $5 of every $100 bet on line and spread bets across the games we track.
