What is the difference between return and profit in betting?

Your return is everything you get back, including your stake; your profit is only the part you won on top.

Example: Bet $10 at $3.00 and win: your return is $30 and your profit is $20.

Australian odds show the return for each $1. US odds show the profit for each $100.

Bet slips usually show the return, so take away your stake to see the profit.

As of 5 October, the bookies keep about $5 of every $100 bet on who-wins bets across the games we track.
